Ride Details
The route is predominantly a hill climber's ride starting in Gawler and finishing in Gawler.

After leaving Gawler, the ride takes in the full 23 km Stuart O'Grady Bikeway (SOB) alongside the Northern Expressway.

The ride exits the southern end of the SOB and takes a combination of back roads including Mill Rd, Greyhound Rd and Mumford Rd until a left turn onto Heaslip Rd. Heaslip Rd is only ridden for a short distance before a right turn onto Edinburgh Rd takes the route through the Edinburgh Precinct.

The route continues on to Salisbury and eventually Salisbury Heights, where the first long steady climb starts on The Grove Way.

Reaching the top of The Grove Way gives way to a quick downhill, leading to its intersection with Golden Grove Rd which is ridden for a short distance until a right turn onto the One Tree Hill Rd marks the end of suburbia.

The visit to One Tree Hill is only fleeting as a right turn onto Cornishmans Hill Rd starts the climbing again, eventually reaching the Gawler-One Tree Hill Rd via a short section of Uley Rd.

A left turn onto Kentish Rd begins the final downhill run into Gawler which completes the ride.

IMPORTANT

The Gawler Wheelers Group Ride Guidelines and Group Ride Recommendations must be read prior to attending a Group Ride Event.

Probably should drag my butt out of bed and get to this one. Been too long.

Hi all. The Gawler weather forecast for Saturday morning is below fyi. Looking reasonable, albeit on the cool side. Don't forget to layer-up. 3 GW rides to choose from this week. See you there. Only two sleeps to go!

POINT OF CLARIFICATION
HILL ROUTES
RAPID (PACED) EVENTS

GW RAPID Event Image

A RAPID paced event will generally exhibit a higher pace compared to that of a MODERATE event and will have fewer/shorter scheduled stops and re-groups.

The RAPID paced event will normally be held in conjunction with an equivalent MODERATE paced event over the same route, and as such there exists the opportunity to fall back to the trailing MODERATE group if needed.

One of the regular Gawler Wheelers organisers, holding a current Bicycle SA membership, will usually assume the role of ride leader for RAPID paced events.

Note: Gawler Wheelers RAPID events do not include dedicated Tail End Charlie (TEC) support.
