Ride Details
A hill climbers ride starting in Gawler and finishing in Gawler.
After leaving Gawler, the climbing starts almost immediately with the steady rise of Potts Rd followed by the Gawler-One Tree Hill Rd. The Gawler-One Tree Hill Rd provides a few fast/slow undulations before the downhill run to the Humbug Scrub cross roads.
The long steady climb of the One Tree Hill-Kersbrook Rd takes the rider up and over the 500m peak above Mt Crawford Forest followed by the fast descent into Kersbrook. The ride then continues south via South Para Rd to Chain of Ponds and the Millbrook Reservoir.
After a short section of Torrens Valley Rd, a left turn onto Tippett Rd followed by another left turn onto Gorge Rd leads to Cudlee Creek.
A right turn onto Fox Creek Rd starts the climbing again and continues the route towards the township of Lenswood.
Exiting Lenswood by turning left onto the Adelaide-Lobethal Rd, directs the route to Lobethal where a short break will no doubt be welcome.
The route leaves Lobethal with a left turn onto Pioneer Ave and after a short climb, gives way to an extremely fast descent back to Cudlee Creek.
The route returns to Gawler via the same outbound path, until a left turn onto Alexander Ave from the Gawler-One Tree Hill Rd, starts the final downhill run into Gawler which completes the ride.
IMPORTANT
The Gawler Wheelers Group Ride Guidelines and Group Ride Recommendations must be read prior to attending a Group Ride Event.

Hi all. Sat morning Gawler weather forecast below fyi. Looks as though it will be warming up early. Important safety reminders:
Two great GW rides to choose from this week. All welcome....just take your pick. Only two sleeps to go...see YOU there :-)
Thanks Keith
Comment by Dale (rouleur) Riggs on October 16, 2012 at 13:03 Time constrains will eliminate me from this one. I'm opting for the other ride this week.

Not so bad, once you get past that 22-23% part. Not much worse than Alexander Avenue, really :)
Comment by Keith Davies on October 15, 2012 at 18:15 Chris & Barry good luck around the bay.
Comment by Peter Bond on October 14, 2012 at 17:56 Im intending to do the Westpac 30 Storey stairclimb (walking) on Friday. So i dont know how my legs will feel on Sat morning but i really want to ride as its my 1yr anniversary with GWers!!! .
Im ok with most of this ride, but Fox Creek sounds a horror - can anyone make a 'sensible' comparison to other hills around Gawler or Adel Hills in either length or slope to help me gauge the pain?? thx.
Comment by Carl Neadley on October 14, 2012 at 15:31 Resting the old legs in preparation for GS5
