Ride Details
A flat ride starting in Gawler and finishing in Gawler.
After leaving Gawler, the ride takes in the full 23 km Stuart O'Grady Bikeway (SOB) alongside the Northern Expressway.
The ride exits the southern end of the SOB and takes a combination of back roads including Mill Rd, Greyhound Rd and Mumford Rd until a left turn onto Heaslip Rd. Heaslip Rd is only ridden for a short distance before a right turn onto Edinburgh Rd takes the route through the Edinburgh Precinct, passing DSTO and the Edinburgh RAAF Base.
A left turn at Bellchambers Rd leads to Andrews Rd before re-entering the SOB via the Petherton Rd gate and returning to Gawler.
IMPORTANT

Comment by Carl Neadley on January 18, 2013 at 5:01 Really bad luck, Elaine. Hope you mend soon and are not mentally affected by the incident. Presumably all reported to police, etc? Surely this person can be charged with driving without due care if they were unable to see because of the sun ?
Again - bad luck. Hope to see you out there again very soon.
Nice easy ride this week as lots on for the TDU week.
Comment by Frank (GW) on January 17, 2013 at 16:50 Elaine, just saw your note.Sorry to hear about but really glad that you are ok. The bruises wiill go away. Are you able to ride still?
Comment by Frank (GW) on January 17, 2013 at 16:42 RIDE DAY/TIME LOCAL WEATHER FORECAST AS AT THURS 5.30pm
Hi all. It may have been a hot one today however Saturday morning is looking soooo much better. Below fyi is the Gawler weather forecast for ride time. Again we have two great GW rides to choose from and both incorporate our "home" SOB route. ALL WELCOME! Only two sleeps to go...see YOU there!
Comment by Barry Norsworthy on January 17, 2013 at 16:20 Thank God you are ok. Main concern , missing TDU !!!!!, spoken like a true GW bike rider. Hope you got details of the driver.. That is a bad spot, but then again, most roundabouts/corners are !.
Comment by Elaine Kuczmarski on January 17, 2013 at 15:24 I was riding early wed morning (sun just coming up) along Hancock Rd, going straight through roundabout at Grenfell Rd when a car entered the roundabout from my left, failed to stop and give way to me and cleaned me up. I think I was swearing at her before I even hit the ground:-) She said she didn't see me due to sun glare. I was wearing hi vis reflective clothing and flashing lights on bike. Trip to hospital confirmed no broken bones, will need to see specialist re shoulder, lots of bruises. REALLY pissed that I'll miss TDU!
Comment by Barry Norsworthy on January 17, 2013 at 10:19 Elaine !!! Unbelievable. Are you OK !!!. More details of what happened. Take care.
