Ride Details
A flat ride starting in Gawler and finishing in Gawler.
After leaving Gawler, the ride takes in the full 23 km Stuart O'Grady Bikeway (SOB) alongside the Northern Expressway.
The ride exits the southern end of the SOB and takes a combination of back roads including Mill Rd, Greyhound Rd and Mumford Rd until a left turn onto Heaslip Rd. Heaslip Rd is only ridden for a short distance before a right turn onto Edinburgh Rd takes the route through the Edinburgh Precinct, passing DSTO and the Edinburgh RAAF Base.
A left turn at Bellchambers Rd leads to Andrews Rd before re-entering the SOB via the Petherton Rd gate and returning to Gawler.
IMPORTANT
The Gawler Wheelers Group Ride Guidelines and Group Ride Recommendations must be read prior to attending a Group Ride Event.

Comment by Pete (repeats ?) Roberts on August 24, 2012 at 18:58 @ Andrew. You wouldn't want to get 'Woman Flu' would you :)

Comment by Andrew M on August 24, 2012 at 14:42 Yeah great Pete, just come and infect all of us other men with your serious case of Man Flu.
@John, I can't believe you haven't accepted the medical science about Man Flu. It is FAR more serious than any common cold or flu I've ever seen a woman suffer from. Far more serious. Look it up.
@Pete, don't really understand what this 'man's flu' is all about! Could you explain the difference between women's flu and men's flu for me?
Maybe I need to read the men's version of Fifty Shades of Grey first! It's probably just a common little cold you have. Not as 'dark' as you are making it out to be.
Just saw this on 'my' 4x4 forum;http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/off-topic-discussion/20128-50-shad...
I'm looking forward to the ride tomorrow. Will probably do a shorter distance just on the SOB since this is my first 'real' ride since March. I did do a quiet, slow traverse of the bike path in the Mt Barker wetlands last weekend but that was only 10km... very pretty.
Comment by Scott Davis on August 24, 2012 at 11:08 The section of Bellchambers Road on the return leg has been closed for major works for a few weeks. I think it's open again now, but still with some roadwork on it.
Comment by Darren on August 24, 2012 at 10:59 I'm out of town for the next couple of weekends. Enjoy!
Comment by Pete (repeats ?) Roberts on August 24, 2012 at 8:36 I am probably only doing coffee bit tomorrow.
Major case of Man Flu :(
Heading down to Naracoorte next weekend to do two 200s. Saturday is a 100km loop up to the north east to Apsley and then 100km sout east to Wrattonbully. Then Sunday is an out and return to Robe. So yes Mick, I better make sure it sis all roadworthy for that trip!
Have booked a cabin with another rider. There are still two bunks free for Friday and Saturday nights if anyone would like to join us exploring the beautiful south east by bike.
Yes, silly me! I am always looking over the tyres on the three cars I run. But for some reason I settled on a simple plan to know when the bike tyres needed changing, since they had no tread to look at - 'when I start getting punctures, it must mean they are getting too thin. So time to replace.' But when I do these long rides it looks like they can go through that last thin bit of rubber to the fabric all in in one ride! And just to be safe I went an bought a new chain and a chain2 breaker today, because the chain was clunking in the last 100km on Saturday night. So I am thinking the chain has stretched. But when I measured 24 links when I got home there didn't seem to be any stretch at all - exactly 12inches! Obviously not pushing on the pedals hard enough to wear out the chain.
