Event Description

Join Tour Down Under winner, Patrick Jonker, for UniSA’s Ride for Pain on Sunday 29 April and help raise awareness about the frequently overlooked issue of chronic pain. Explore the Adelaide Hills on a 100km loop up Norton Summit to Lobethal and back to the city, or take the 45km exit.

Those looking for a challenge are encouraged to take on Cockscrew Road, solo or as a team, in a bid to overcome adversity and acknowledge the parallel challenge faced by those suffering from chronic pain. Thanks to Fasta Pasta, the first 60 riders to reach the top of Corkscrew Road will receive a voucher for a complimentary main pasta. Teams registered with 8 or more riders will go in the draw to win 1 of 2 packages of 20 Fasta Pasta vouchers.

Recreational riders and families haven’t been forgotten. Grab your bikes and enjoy the 35km beach ride.

For more information visit the UniSA Ride for Pain website

Ride options
Riders can choose between the relaxing 35 kilometre beach route or the 100 kilometre hills endurance route, (incorporating a 45 kilometre shortcut) with the option to take on Corkscrew Road.

100 kilometre Hills Ride (or 45 kilometre shortcut)
Explore the picturesque Adelaide Hills on this 100 kilometre loop up Norton Summit to Lobethal and back to the city down Gorge Road. Or if you feel like you like you've reached your limit, take the shortcut along Marble Hill Road.

Thoroughly enjoyed that, despite the drizzle about the hills! First time up Corkscrew too:-)

Sorry forgot to mention that the linked pdf has info on marshals and signage as well.

I was searching for stops as well. They're not on the uni sa website, but they are accessible via the Bike SA website:
http://yooyahcloud.com/BICYCLESA/qpypac/Ride_for_Pain_participant_i...
Hope this helps. Also, to prevent getting lost I use a Garmin Edge which I've loaded with the route, downloadable from bikemap.net:
http://www.bikemap.net/route/1402790#lat=-34.923148346409&lng=1...
People without a Garmin: just follow me, I'll be the one on the ridiculously new Fondriest bike (this will be the maiden ride in fact).
Good luck to all.

I haven't done 100kms in one hit for a couple of months now so I'm not sure how I feel about Corkscrew! Will decide right beforehand as to whether I give it a crack or not. No favours from the weather to encourage lead up rides this week, although I had a nice blast around the hills yesterday which was lovely...

And you encouraged me to give it a go! Now I'm really nervous.

I'm getting really nervous about this ride. I'm not as fit or 'trained up' as I' hoped and some of those escape routes are tempting. So... please don't laugh as you pass and (like the tee shirt says) if you see me collapsed on the side of the road, please stop and pause my garmin.
