A one-off ride in the deep South - mainly for my own benefit, but others are welcome... provided you don't mind doing about 22-24kph as an average!

Starting time 8am for an 8.05am roll-out.

Start and finish point is Macdonalds Aldinga

The idea is to roll-around the Southern end of McLaren Vale (Aldinga ,Willunga, McLaren Vale and return to Aldinga)

It'll be a scenic ride with a chance of seeing the winters first almond blossom!

There is a hilly section approaching Willunga (see route map).

It'll be hard work for some, not so hard for others!

It's best described as "L-ish, not Hellish"!

Comment by Andrew on July 8, 2012 at 12:34: The average was about 21kph but 4 intrepid souls braved Colville Road (here on in called Col D'Ville Road)and some of the lower slopes of the Southern Vales. It was scarce but the blossom has been spotted and this route promises to be very picturesque over the next month or so.The route itself was reasonably quiet with the brief exception of crossing South Road at Aldinga. Colville Road was hardwork for two of the riders and not so hard for the other two! Kudos to Renata for having a go and getting around, you are definitely getting stronger! Thanks also to MArk and RD6 for the ride with.

Comment by Andrew on July 5, 2012 at 17:32: Thanks Michelle. I didn't think there would be too many takers given the location and the fact that there is a P ride on the previous day. I can't ride on the Saturday as its Em's birthday, so we'll be out celebrating, no doubt!

I am sure it will be a lovely ride. I hope you all enjoy yourselves :-)
