Event Description

Adelaide Cyclists member winter ride.

Meet at 8am at Bocelli's (or earlier if you want a coffee before) and ride to Glenelg - meet at the Buffalo at 8.30am where we will do a short hello and remember Alan Roberst* then ride West Beach to Semaphore. Faster group can go on to Outer Harbour and contest the Strava sprint segments. (more to come).

Others can return in their own time or stop at Semaphore by the mini train and playground kiosk for coffee then ride back.

The pace will be a relaxed one with a tail end Charlie. No one gets left behind. It's a chance to come out and meet other members and keep the winter chills away.

Alan Roberts

This is also a ride to remember a member of Adelaide's cycling community, Alan Roberts (bio), who passed away after collapsing while riding his bike on Christmas Day 2011 on Kauri Parade at Seacliff, he was only 42.

A member of Alan's extended family will meet us at Glenelg. She is collecting a few gold coin donations to help buy a park bench in Alan's memory to be placed where he loved to ride around Seacliff. He is survived by his wife and three young daughters. Please be prepared to give generously so their father can be remembered.

Thanks Patrick ;) Pics look great, the weather was perfect... I looked out of my windows and cursed Chelsea for eternity.  Will definitely be at June 10th one!

What a fantastic ride Gus, Kudos to you, brilliant weather and lots of faces I have seen on the forum but now have seen in the flesh.  Personally I rode 95km from Woodcroft to Hallett Cove to OH and return after never riding more then 60km previously.  I am completely stuffed.

thanks for all coming out. Clive has posted on the main forum. Here are some pix. I'll set up the next winter ride for June 10.

So sad to not have made it.  I am forced to stay home and look after my kids since  my husband stayed up till 7am to watch Chelsea win the Champions League.  I hope you all had an enjoyable ride and I hope to read a ride report that makes me mucho jealous!

Sounds good, if I haven't seen the lycra bunch by ten past then I'll shoot on down to Glenelg. I'll be on the blue hipstermobile.

Start of Anzac Hwy? But the buffalo is a safe bet. See you in the morning.

Hey my train gets me into town at five to eight, is there somewhere on the edge of town I can spot you guys and catch up? Otherwise I'll just fly down to the Buffalo, I hope someone's still awake :)
