Event Description

Adelaide Cyclists member winter ride.

Meet at 8am at Bocelli's (or earlier if you want a coffee before) and ride to Glenelg - meet at the Buffalo at 8.30am where we will do a short hello and remember Alan Roberst* then ride West Beach to Semaphore. Faster group can go on to Outer Harbour and contest the Strava sprint segments. (more to come).

Others can return in their own time or stop at Semaphore by the mini train and playground kiosk for coffee then ride back.

The pace will be a relaxed one with a tail end Charlie. No one gets left behind. It's a chance to come out and meet other members and keep the winter chills away.

Alan Roberts

This is also a ride to remember a member of Adelaide's cycling community, Alan Roberts (bio), who passed away after collapsing while riding his bike on Christmas Day 2011 on Kauri Parade at Seacliff, he was only 42.

A member of Alan's extended family will meet us at Glenelg. She is collecting a few gold coin donations to help buy a park bench in Alan's memory to be placed where he loved to ride around Seacliff. He is survived by his wife and three young daughters. Please be prepared to give generously so their father can be remembered.

OK, I just made a few tweaks to meeting place at Glenelg, the Buffalo, some notes on the ride also being a memorial for a cyclist who passed away on Christmas Day 2011. See above but there will be a gold coin donation.

Coffee will be at Semaphore by the playground kiosk.

Weather check 7am. Can someone volunteer from the Glenelg meet-up/ and or Sthn Subs crowds or others to send me their mobile so we can communicate ETA and weather.

Sunday's weather says 8 - 18C, light winds with a 5% chance of rain.

I will be riding out with the SSRC group and joining up at Glenelg.

It's a great cafe on Semaphore rd about 300m up from the beach but I think there will be too many of us so I need a plan B which will probably be stopping around the end of the pier where the train goes from and get a coffee from the kiosk. I'll fine tune that bit in the week.

If it is not raining or blowing a gale I will be there at Bocelli's.

Sorry, have to no show. Have a haematoma in the right quad and rough cartilage under the right kneecap. Overdid it on the trainer.
