Adelaide Cyclists member winter ride.
Meet at 8am at Bocelli's (or earlier if you want a coffee before) and ride to Glenelg - meet at the Buffalo at 8.30am where we will do a short hello and remember Alan Roberst* then ride West Beach to Semaphore. Faster group can go on to Outer Harbour and contest the Strava sprint segments. (more to come).
Others can return in their own time or stop at Semaphore by the mini train and playground kiosk for coffee then ride back.
The pace will be a relaxed one with a tail end Charlie. No one gets left behind. It's a chance to come out and meet other members and keep the winter chills away.
Alan Roberts
This is also a ride to remember a member of Adelaide's cycling community, Alan Roberts (bio), who passed away after collapsing while riding his bike on Christmas Day 2011 on Kauri Parade at Seacliff, he was only 42.
A member of Alan's extended family will meet us at Glenelg. She is collecting a few gold coin donations to help buy a park bench in Alan's memory to be placed where he loved to ride around Seacliff. He is survived by his wife and three young daughters. Please be prepared to give generously so their father can be remembered.

Comment by Brian Jenkins (BJ) on May 18, 2012 at 21:08 For those interested in cycling infrastructure and haven't checked out Semaphore Road, it's worth taking a ride along and good look around. Further along away from the coast, as well as the on-road bike lane, there's bike-only paths separate from the pedestrians' walkways.
Comment by Patrick O'Kane on May 18, 2012 at 18:49 Weather forecast is looking great for Sunday.
@ Roger you will be fine, lots of great people to help you along.
Comment by Smudge on May 16, 2012 at 22:02 Sorry Gus, will be at the Million Paws Walk that morning. Looks like it will be great weather for you tho.
Comment by Roger Gurr on May 16, 2012 at 12:27 Changed from a "might be" to a "will be", but concerned that I might struggle as I'm new to the road & it'll be just my 3rd 30km+ ride so not many kms in the legs. Am looking forward to it however. See you at Bocelli's
Comment by Michelle Crick on May 15, 2012 at 17:38 Thanks Gus will hopefully meet you there.
